Yorktown-Somers Patch Voters Guide To School District Elections

Don't forget to vote May 21 if you live in the Yorktown-Somers area. Here's what you need to know.

YORKTOWN, NY — New York residents are asked to vote on their local school district’s budget and board of education May 21. Here are fast facts about the elections for the Yorktown, Somers and Lakeland school districts.

Yorktown CSD

Voting information

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Mohansic Elementary School gymnasium.

Board of Education

Three candidates are vying for three seats. They are Reshmi Bose, Cheryl Reynolds and Lisa Rolle.

School budget

  • Proposed for 2019-20: $98.2 million
  • Increase over current spending: 0.25 percent
  • Tax levy increase: 0.85 percent

Voters are also being asked to approve a capital projects proposition in the amount of $4 million. If approved, it will be transferred from the buildings and facilities improvements capital reserve fund to the capital fund.


Somers CSD

Voting information

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Somers Middle School gym.

Board of Education

Three candidates are vying for three seats. They are Chadwick Olsen, Joseph A. Marra and Ifay Chang.

School budget

  • Proposed for 2019-20: $93.7 million
  • Increase over current spending: 2.65 percent
  • Tax levy increase: 2.62 percent

Voter are also being asked to approve a bond in the of $7,566,295 to finance safety and security measures at Somers schools.


Lakeland CSD

Voting information

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Van Cortlandtville Elementary School.

Board of Education

There are three uncontested trustee positions on the ballot.

School budget

  • Proposed for 2019-20: $174.9 million
  • Increase over current spending: 4.98 percent
  • Tax levy increase: 1.49 percent

Voter are also being asked to approve a bus purchase proposition for an amount not to exceed $1,568,970.
