Accused Heroin Dealer arrested in Shopping Center Parking Lot

Police investigating heroin in southern Putnam and northern Westchester counties said she had 563 glassine bags with her.

A new investigation into the sale of heroin in northern Westchester and southern Putnam counties has resulted in several arrests. Police have announced one.

Now Yorktown Heights resident Alexis N. Mitchell, 20, faces felony charges of criminal possession, sale and intent to sell a controlled substance.

Yorktown police said they worked with the Northern Westchester Drug Task Force, the Westchester and the Putnam Sheriff’s Office to investigate Mitchell after she was identified as a suspect.

They allege that she sold heroin on two separate dates in December. On Feb. 2, they found her in the TJMaxx parking lot in Yorktown Heights at 5:25 p.m. Police allege she had 563 glassine bags of heroin, with an estimated street value of $6,700, with her.

At 9:50 p.m. they executed a search warrant at her residence on Halyan Road. They allege they found another 91 glassine bags of heroin and $30,223 in cash.

Mitchell was arraigned and sent to Westchester County Jail on $5,000 cash bail. She is scheduled to appear in town court Feb. 4.
