Yorktown Woman Charged With Felony DWI: Police

Police said she had a previous DWI conviction within the past 10 years.

YORKTOWN, NY — A 60-year-old Yorktown Heights resident was accused of felony drunken driving.

The Yorktown Police Department said Diane M. Sweeting, 60, of Yorktown Heights, was charged with driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction within the past 10 years, a felony, and leaving the scene of a property damage motor vehicle accident, a traffic infraction.

Police said, shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday, an officer responded to a call about leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

A witness followed the vehicle which, police said, had left the scene of the accident.

Sweeting was identified as the driver, police said. and she was found to be driving while intoxicated.

She was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing, where it was found she had previously been convicted of DWI within the past 10 years.

Sweeting was issued an appearance ticket and was released on her own recognizance to a responsible third party.

She is next scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court Aug. 5.
