Yorktown Woman's Killer Executed in Virginia
Rachel Raver and Warren H. Fulton III died in 1988. Her family says their memories are alive and strong.

Yorktown resident Rachael Raver and her boyfriend died in Reston, Virginia nearly 30 years ago.
Raver, a graduate of George Washington University, lived in Alexandria at the time. Warren H. Fulton III was a senior and baseball captain at George Washington.
Their murderer, a serial killer, was executed in Virginia Thursday night, according to The Journal News.

Alfredo R. Prieto was involved in nine abductions, rapes and homicides between 1988 and 1990. He was on death row in California in 2005 and had already been through 13 appeals when Virginia detectives reopened the cold case and got a match on his DNA. Though he was extradicted to Virginia, things continued to be difficult. In 2008 a mistrial was declared and in 2009 a resentencing was ordered. In 2010 he was sentenced to death.

On Oct. 1 His lawyers filed arguments to delay the execution, but the courts ruled against them.
“Today ends a long and painful ordeal for my family, that has haunted us for over 26 years,” said Deidre Raver in a written statement.
