NC Zoo Set To Reopen With COVID-19 Restrictions: Details
The North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro is reopening with COVID-19 restrictions. Here's what zoo officials say you should know before visiting.
NORTH CAROLINA — Following months of closure to the public, the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro is set to reopen for visitors June 15, it announced. The natural habitat zoo is implementing changes to its operations amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, starting with timed tickets for entry.
"Walk-up entry is not available at this time; everyone must arrange their visit, including Zoo members or those holding previously purchased tickets," the zoo said. "Any guests without an advance purchased timed-entry ticket will not be admitted into the Zoo."
The zoo is limiting the number of visitors allowed in each day and said reservations for timed tickets may be made three weeks in advance. Tickets become available Thursday, June 11.

Pathways throughout the park will also be designated as one-way where possible to help encourage social distancing. The zoo is also strongly encouraging guests to wear face coverings.

- Indoor habitats, including Seabirds, Polar Bear Underwater Viewing and Ice Cave, Aviary, Streamside and Desert
- Indoor dining. (Outside dining is available.)
- Seasonal attractions, such as the Giraffe Deck, Carousel, Butterfly Garden, VR Experience, Zoofari, Air Hike Ropes Course and Treehouse Trek
- Education Smart Carts, Kidzone and playgrounds
- Keeper Talks and Public Feeding Times
