Rose on Friday, facing an unbeaten Rampants squad powered by a suddenly dominant defense. Rose is 4-0 after a 40-0 shutout of Havelock, while Middle Creek, last year's 6A state runner-up, comes in 2-1 and fresh off a bye after beating Rose in Apex in 2025.
• Awards to recognize outstanding ECU alumni (ecu.edu) — An Apex resident, Dr. Sara Griffith, is among five East Carolina University alumni being honored this October for standout professional achievements and service to the university. • North Carolina Parents Demand Religious Accommodations After Wake County School District Hires Transgender Teacher (thomasmoresociety.org) — Parents at Middle Creek Elementary in Apex are pressing Wake County school officials for religious accommodations after the hiring of a transgender music teacher, threatening a lawsuit if their demands aren't met. They're seeking opt-out options, protection for traditional pronoun use, limits on classroom gender discussions, and assurances against retaliation, citing recent Supreme Court rulings and North Carolina's Parental Bill of Rights.
