14-Year-Old Charlotte Girl Shot, Killed At Mount Holly Park
Police have charged 18-year-old Darvon Fletcher with first-degree murder
CHARLOTTE, NC -- A 14-year-old girl from East Charlotte has died after being found shot multiple times in a suburban park outside of Charlotte, and authorities say they have arrested her killer.

Taylor Sotera Smith was found lying on the ground near River Street Park in Mount Holly, N.C. with multiple gunshot wounds the afternoon of April 3, according to The Charlotte Observer.

Darvon Fletcher, 18 and also of Charlotte, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
“It appears the homicide was not a random act, as the individuals involved were familiar with each other, and had traveled to the park from Charlotte,” Mount Holly Police Chief Don Roper said, the newspaper reported.
