  1. A two-year-old boy was found dead in a retention pond on Tumbling Rock Lane. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the child's mother reported him missing around 8 p.m. Tuesday night. Shortly afterward, the boy was found and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. (WCCB Charlotte)
  2. Vice President Kamala Harris is coming to Charlotte today. The vice president plans to speak with state legislators regarding reproductive rights, as well as the Biden administration's investment in affordable high-speed internet. As of Wednesday afternoon, the White House did not release information regarding where Harris will be speaking. (Charlotte Observer)
  3. A First Alert has been issued for the Charlotte metro today. Experts anticipate temperatures reaching up to the 90s, with heat index values soaring around 105 degrees. Severe thunderstorms are also likely this afternoon and evening. Intense heat and tropical humidity are expected to carry through the weekend. (WBTV)
