2018 Holiday Closings In Mecklenburg County: What's Open, Closed

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Christmas Day and New Years Day is considered a federal holiday, which means government offices, schools and some businesses will take a break for the holiday.

Charlotte City and Mecklenburg County government offices will be closed for the holiday on Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25, as well as New Year’s Day on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019.

Here are the openings and closings to be aware of this holiday:

U.S. Post Office: Closed Tuesday, Dec. 25, and Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Mecklenburg County Court System: Closed Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25; Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019

Libraries: All Charlotte Mecklenburg Library branches will be closed Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25.

Mecklenburg County Offices: Closed Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25; Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019. This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency offices.

Department of Social Services: Closed Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25; Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019

The Department of Social Services hotlines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).

Health Department: Closed Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25; Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019

Trash and Recycling: All Solid Waste facilities will be closed Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25; Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019

Park and Recreation: Closed Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25; Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019

Nature Centers: Closed Dec. 22 through Dec. 25. They will be open New Year’s Eve and closed on New Year’s Day.

Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center: Closed on Monday and Tuesday, December 24 and 25, 2018 and Jan. 1, 2019. Pools will close at 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.

CharMeck 311: open and available to the public Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Town of Huntersville: Closed Monday, Dec. 24 - Wednesday, Dec. 26, Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019

Town of Davidson: Closed Monday, Dec. 24 - Wednesday, Dec. 26, Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019
