25 Warrants: Ankle Monitor Helps Police Nab Crime Spree Suspects
Two teenagers went on a crime spree in Charlotte over the weekend and now face more than two dozen charges.
CHARLOTTE, NC — A court-ordered electronic monitoring device helped police find and arrest two teenagers who went on a weekend crime spree that included stealing a vehicle and using stolen credit cards.
The pair now face charges from 25 arrest warrants police said.
According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department report, the spree began Feb. 14 shortly after 9 a.m., when a Nissan Altima was reported stolen in the 8700 block of Pence Road.

The next day — between Saturday evening and early Sunday morning — a credit card was stolen from an unlocked Ford Edge parked in a secured parking area in the 300 block of Arlington Avenue, police said. Around the same time, a bank card and other property were taken from an unlocked car in the 9400 block of Misenheimer Road.
Early Sunday morning, around 5 a.m., CMPD received a 911 call from a resident in the 9100 block of Albemarle Road who reported two suspects attempting to break into cars in the neighborhood.

When responding officers arrived, they spotted the stolen Altima leaving the area at a high rate of speed.
“Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the Altima, but the driver refused to stop and fled from officers in excess of 100 mph while running stop lights,” CMPD said.

Later Sunday, around 1:30 p.m., the stolen credit card taken from an earlier theft from a vehicle was used in the 3100 block of Milton Road. There, responding officers located and arrested Jacari Cuthbertson, 19, and said he also was in possession of stolen items taken from the Arlington Avenue larceny.
During an investigation, police concluded that an electronic monitor Cuthbertson was court-ordered to wear as a condition of pre-trial release for a previous vehicle theft placed him at the scene of the vehicle theft and other crimes, CMPD said.

According to CMPD, Cuthbertson was charged with 18 warrants for crimes including larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of larceny from a motor vehicle, five counts of attempted larceny from a motor vehicle, five counts of damage to property, two counts of misdemeanor larceny and two counts of financial card theft, as well as charges related to violating his electronic monitoring agreement and fleeing police, which is a felony.
Loredo-Perez was located Monday evening, when he was charged with seven outstanding warrants, including two counts of larceny from a motor vehicle and five counts of attempted larceny from a motor vehicle. When he was arrested, he was also in possession of a concealed gun with an altered serial number, as well as possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, which also brought additional charges.
“It is possible these suspects were involved in other cases which have not yet been reported to police,” CMPD said, adding that anyone with information about these cases is asked to call 911 to report it. The public can also leave this information anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600, CMPD said.
