4 NC Companies Among The Best To Work For In 2019: Fortune

Hilton is America’s best company to work for in 2019, according to Fortune’s annual list released on Thursday.

The Virginia-based company jumped to the No.1 spot in 2019 after placing No.33 on the list in 2018. Fortune writes that the company’s ascent is thanks to several employee-focused changes, including more comfortable work wear and upgrading spaces used by employees.

Four North Carolina businesses placed on Fortune’s 100 best companies to work for list.

The North Carolina companies on the list are:

• Kimley-Horn, No. 18, Raleigh
• Red Hat, No. 50, Raleigh
• SAS Institute, No. 60, Cary
• Bank of America, No. 92, Charlotte

To be considered for the list, a company has to have at least 1000 employees, according to Fortune. The list is compiled by the analytics firm Great Place to Work, which conducts a workforce survey where employees respond to over 60 questions. According to Fortune, the survey responses account for 85 percent of the analysis. The rest of the analysis is based on factors like people’s ability to contribute new ideas and effectiveness of leaders, Fortune explains. (You can read the full methodology here.)
