4-Year-Old Expelled After Bringing Loaded Gun To Pre-K Class
The 4-year-old student was caught showing off the semi-automatic handgun with a fully loaded magazine to other students.

MOUNT GILEAD, NC — A 4-year-old pre-kindergarten student has been kicked out of school and his mother faces charges after the boy was caught showing off a loaded semi-automatic handgun to other students in his class, according to reports.
The Jan. 31 incident occurred at Mount Gilead Elementary School in Mount Gilead, North Carolina, which is about 65 miles east of Charlotte.
According to a local police report, a teacher spotted the child showing other students an item in a bookbag. “The teacher went to examine what was in the book bag and observed what appeared to be a firearm,” Mount Gilead Police Department said in a statement.

School officials promptly called police, who confirmed the gun was a 9 millimeter Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun with a fully loaded magazine.
MGPD seized the weapon and, according to Fox 46, the boy’s mother faces charges in the incident. The child has also been suspended from the school for the remainder of the school year, according to the station.

There may be additional ramifications, MGPD said. “The results of our investigation into this matter regarding the possession of a weapon on educational property will be given to the Juvenile Court Counselor for their review and possible action,” it said.
