7-Year-Old North Carolina Boy Throws Prom For His Nanny
Curtis Rogers, 7, threw his babysitter a special prom event after she wasn't able to go to her own.
When North Carolina teen Rachel Chapman envisioned her prom earlier this year, she likely never thought it would involve a wooden backyard play set, a pool noodle ensuring social distancing or an adorable 7-year-old boy in a three-piece suit.
But thanks to a Raleigh boy, that's exactly what she experienced.
Curtis Rogers, 7, decided to organize a prom for Chapman, his nanny, after hers was canceled earlier this year due to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. When school was canceled two months ago, so was her babysitting.

"I planned it out because Rachel probably wanted to see me a lot," Rogers told WTVD in Raleigh. "She also is one of the best people I've known."
Rogers set up a Google playlist of Chapman's favorite songs and turned to a favorite afternoon snack of apples and peanut butter as part of the spread of refreshments. His mother, who said Chapman was like part of their family, told the station that the boy's excitement in planning the event went all the way to the detail of picking out a bow tie to match her dress.

"I could tell he put a lot of thought into it," the high school senior said. "I was kind of like bummed putting my dress on because I was sad; I don't get to wear it to my senior prom," Chapman said. "After leaving it and having that time with him because it was the first time I had seen him in two months, it was like, really fun, and I'm really glad that he did that."
