8, Including 2 Children, Rescued From Charlotte Apartment Fire

CHARLOTTE, NC — Eight south Charlotte apartment residents, including two children, were rescued from a fire Tuesday evening, according to Charlotte Fire officials.

The fire, which caused an estimated $15,000 in damages, was started by unattended cooking, fire officials said.

When firefighters arrived at the apartment complex in the 4400 block of Rose Thorn Place, they found a two-story apartment building "with smoke showing," CFD said.

The fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes and the two children were rescued by ground ladder. None of the apartment occupants were transported for medical treatment, CFD said.

The fire was initially reported by a child, who called 911, WSOC reported.
