90 Year-Old Missing Charlotte Man Has Been Found: CMPD

Joseph Paul Rand, 90, was found in South Charlotte Saturday morning after he went missing from his home Thursday.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A 90-year-old Charlotte man who went missing Thursday when he drove away from his Charlotte home has been located, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said Sept. 9.

Joseph Lane Rand was reported missing after he left his home at 3500 Windsor Drive Sept. 7 and drove to an unknown location. CMPD said at the time there was concern for his safety.

Rand was described as a 6-foot tall white male with grey hair, likely traveling with a black and white terrier named “Buddy.” He was driving a blue 2008 4-door Saturn Aura sedan with NC tag WRA-1854. On Friday, Rand rented a silver 2017 4-door Hyundai Elantra and was seen driving south on Interstate 85 around 5:30 p.m. Sept. 8.

He was located Saturday morning in CMPD’s South Division and was in the process of being reunited with his family, CMPD said.
