ALDI Set To Reopen Two Charlotte-Area Stores

The discount grocer is spending $48 million to remodel all its regional stores by 2018

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Savvy grocery shoppers in the Charlotte area, get your cart quarters ready! ALDI is reopening its Belmont location Thursday, April 6, followed by its Albemarle Road location in Charlotte April 13.

ALDI’s national expansion plan is expected to cost about $1.6 billion, the company said in early February. Renovation and remodeling plans are focused on expanding fresh produce sections, as well as dairy and akery sections, as well as adding natural lighting and modern interior designs.

Whether you’re an avid ALDI shopper or not, the store has shown to have an impact on food bills in a region. In Australia, for example, ALDI stores cut the earnings of its convenience store and supermarket competitors by about 17 percent, prompting them to lower prices, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
