2. 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb set for Saturday in Uptown (wsoctv.com) — Charlotte residents can honor fallen 9/11 firefighters this Saturday, Sept. 12, by joining the 2026 Charlotte 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at the Bank of America Corporate Center in uptown. Participants 13 and older will climb the equivalent of 110 stories, with proceeds supporting families of fallen firefighters and counseling services, and on-site registration starting at 7 a.m.
3. Man charged in deadly shooting in Uptown Charlotte arrested in SC: CMPD (qcnews.com) — Police say a man has been arrested in South Carolina after a deadly early‑morning shooting on West Trade Street in Uptown Charlotte that left 33‑year‑old Manuel De Jesus Martinez dead. Charlotte‑Mecklenburg detectives are working to extradite the suspect back to Mecklenburg County, where he is expected to face a murder charge as the investigation continues.
4. Navy Veteran's home destroyed in fire (wccbcharlotte.com) — A Navy veteran from south Charlotte lost his home and belongings after a backyard burn pile sparked a fire, leaving him and his three dogs displaced. While he struggles with slow government assistance, local groups like Blue Star Mothers of North Carolina and the US Veterans Hall of Fame have stepped in with essentials, advocacy, and temporary housing support as he rebuilds.
5. Contour Airlines Announces New Daily Service Between Williamsport, PA and Charlotte, NC (pennwatch.org) — Starting October 19, Contour Airlines will add daily nonstop flights between Williamsport Regional Airport and Charlotte Douglas International Airport, giving Charlotte a new regional connection. The route uses 30-seat jets with daily morning arrivals and afternoon departures, expanding options for both local travelers and visitors connecting through Charlotte to other destinations.
