2. Lumbee students envision future healthcare careers at The Pearl (robesonian.com) — Lumbee high school students from southeastern North Carolina spent a day at The Pearl in Charlotte, exploring hands-on healthcare and STEAM career paths. Their visit included interactive simulations, a tour of Siemens Healthineers' Experience Center, and conversations with healthcare professionals and medical students, helping them imagine future careers that could bring them back to Charlotte's growing innovation district.
3. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police file petition to release body-cam video after officer shot, killed man (wbtv.com) — Charlotte residents are awaiting a judge's decision after CMPD's chief petitioned the court to release body-camera footage from an officer-involved shooting that killed 47-year-old Curtis Massey in Lincoln Heights. Police say the incident began with a disturbance call and escalated when Massey allegedly ran with a firearm; community members are pressing for clarity and transparency.
4. CATS announces name of new light rail station in South End (wccbcharlotte.com) — South End transit riders can look forward to Atherton Mill Station, the newly named CATS light rail stop honoring the historic nearby textile mill and slated to open in 2028. Officials also just opened a new pedestrian rail crossing, aiming to boost safety and make it easier to walk, bike, and ride transit through this fast-growing Charlotte neighborhood.
