Arrest Made After Early Morning Sexual Assault, Robbery in Uptown Charlotte
A couple walking to their hotel in uptown Charlotte was robbed at gunpoint and the female victim sexually assaulted, police say.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested a suspect they say is behind an early morning sexual assault and robbery of a couple walking to their hotel in uptown Charlotte.
The victims -- a man and woman -- were held up at gunpoint and forced into an alley in the 200 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard while they were enroute to their hotel. The suspect then bound the male victim and sexually assaulted the female victim. He ran from the scene with their clothes, a cell phone and wallet, CMPD said.
The 35-year-old woman was taken to the hospital for treatment, according to a report by WCNC.

About two hours after police responded to the attack, at around 3:30 a.m., officers found Tevin Quayshawn Williams, 19, who they say is the suspect in this case. After questioning by CMPD’s sexual assault detectives, Williams was charged with two counts of first degree rape, three counts of first degree sex offense, two counts of first degree kidnapping, two counts of armed robbery and possession of a stolen firearm.
