Atlanta Airport's Power Outage Impact On Charlotte Airport

Hundreds of flights were canceled in Atlanta Monday after an 11-hour power outage at the airport. Here's how to check or rebook flights.

CHARLOTTE, NC β€” If you’re booked on a Delta flight out of Charlotte Monday, you should probably double check your flight status. The morning after an 11-hour power outage at Delta’s hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, airlines still were struggling to get back up and running at full capacity. About 1,100 flights were canceled Sunday at the busy hub, and hundreds more already were canceled for Monday.

So far, however, the ripple effect on Charlotte Douglas International Airport seems to be minimal. At least two flights through Atlanta have been canceled Monday. According to the FAA Air Traffic Control System, Charlotte Douglas International Airport was not experiencing any destination delays, and all arrival and departure delays were 15 minutes or less.

Atlanta-based Delta, which has its largest hub at the world's busiest airport, canceled about 300 flights Monday morning in order to more quickly return to normal with the rest of its schedule.
The airport was encouraging travelers with Monday tickets to arrive at the airport earlier than usual and telling people who had tickets to fly Sunday to reprint those tickets on Monday.
