Baby Toy Causes Bomb Scare at US Postal Office
A package containing a noise making baby toy caused a bomb scare at the USPS Facility on Ballantyne Commons Parkway Saturday evening.
A baby toy caused a scare at a local Charlotte, North Carolina Postal Facility Saturday night. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department & Charlotte Fire Department responded to the USPS Facility on Ballantyne Commons Parkway around 6pm after a 911 call reported a ticking noise coming from a package.
Charlotte Fire Department initiated a suspicious package response which brought additional resources to the postal facility Saturday evening. A Police K-9 and Bomb Squad Technicians searched the area surrounding the package in question while a Charlotte Fire Hazardous Materials Team stood ready.

A Bomb Squad technician examined the package and contents within it and deemed the package not a threat. According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department spokesperson, the package turned out to be a baby sound machine or sound related toy.
All emergency personnel cleared the scene after about an hour. Police deemed there to be no threat to the community.
