Best Christmas Lights In North Carolina: Where Are They?

Nominate your own house or a great local holiday light display for Patch's tour of Christmas lights. Send us photos and a description.

Are you the Clark Griswold of your neighborhood with zillions of lights and figures drawing visitors from surrounding areas? Are there certain spots in town that you think are more festive than others? We want to know where in North Carolina to find the best Christmas decorations and lights.

If you spend days or weeks painstakingly hanging strands of lights on your house, trees and shrubs, or hauling multiple figurines out to your lawn, Patch wants to hear from you.

We're compiling a list where readers can tour the best holiday light displays in the Charlotte metro and Lake Norman area. If your winter wonderland is worth a drive-by, send an email to kimberly.johnson@patch.com.

  • We prefer that the homeowner submit his or her own yard, or an immediate neighbor or close relative.
  • Include the exact address of the lawn display.
  • Let us know the dates and hours when your display will be available for viewing, so people aren't ringing your doorbell or bothering your neighbors in the middle of the night.
  • Please don't submit a Christmas-decorated home you recall from five or ten years ago. That person may no longer be decorating their house and we don't want people wasting gas.
  • Does your display have a name? Be sure to include it.
  • Tell us about any special effects, such as singing trees, stuffed reindeer, live actors, etc.
  • Does your display have a Facebook page or website? Be sure to include the links.
  • Are you collecting at-will donations for a charity, food pantry or pet shelter? Let us know.
  • Include a phone number (not for publication) in case Patch needs to contact you.
  • We're going to assume that Patch has permission to use every photo that is submitted for this feature.

We do our best to verify each address. Don't be shy and share your creativity so the rest of us can enjoy it.
