Best Cities For Singles: How Does Charlotte Metro Rank?

CHARLOTTE, NC — When it comes to finding love during the holiday season, singles in the Charlotte metro are a tad better off than most.

The personal finance website WalletHub recently released its 2019 “Best & Worst Cities for Singles” and our city ranked No. 70 overall out of 182 cities in the U.S.

Here’s how the Charlotte metro ranked in specific areas:

• Economics: No. 100
• Fun & Recreation: No. 39
• Dating Opportunities: No. 120

Atlanta ranked as the best place for individuals not in a relationship, the researchers found, followed by Denver and San Francisco.

The worst city for singles in the United States? That heartless honor goes to Pearl City, Hawaii.

Other lovelights from the report include:

Gilbert, Arizona, took home the important first place finish in most online-dating options. Detroit had the highest percentage of singles of any city in the United States.

Going on a date in 2019 is more expensive than you might expect. The average cost of a date is $102.57, according to USA Today.

WalletHub compared 182 of the most populated cities in the United States across 35 relevant metrics of single life friendliness, including average price of a two-person meal, the share of single population and active Tinder users.

Deciding between a left or right swipe has never been so important.

Each relevant metric was listed with its corresponding weight and the cities were subsequently graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the best possible single experience.
