  1. According to WBTV, "detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) are requesting the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a shooting on Monday. According to CMPD, the shooting happened around 6:45 p.m. Monday in the 7100 block of Wallace Road, near Parkwood Apartments, in southeast Charlotte. ... Police responded at 6:48 p.m. for an assault with a deadly weapon call and found a 4-year-old victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to an area hospital." (WBTV)
  2. Charlotte’s Customshop has decided to renew its lease on Elizabeth Avenue along with other changes that includes a change in ownership. According to WCCB Charlotte, "Customshop’s creator, Trey Wilson, says he is excited to pass the torch to longtime chef and culinary expert Andres Kaifer, who recently joined the team as partner and head chef. Kaifer, an experienced chef and restaurant operator, has been at the helm of Customshop for the last four months and shares Wilson’s mission of sourcing local ingredients as often as possible and creating an upscale yet casual experience."(WCCB Charlotte)
  3. According to Fox 46, "a school bus crash was reported in south Charlotte Wednesday evening. The accident happened on South Boulevard at Wisteria Drive. Paramedics say 13 students were on board, but no injuries were reported." (Fox 46)
  4. WCNC reports that "North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has announced a new program that allows eligible residents to order additional tests monthly. Through a partnership with the Rockefeller Foundation's Project ACT, eligible North Carolina residents can order up to five at-home COVID-19 tests free of charge each month." This offer includes free shipping. (WCNC)
  5. The Biden Administration has announced a new student loan forgiveness plan. According to WSOC-TV, it is "a plan to eliminate $10,000 of federal student loan debt for borrowers under certain income limits, with an additional $10,000 of forgiveness for borrowers who were eligible for Pell grants when they attended college. Applications are expected to open in early October, and many borrowers will get their student loan reductions automatically." (WSOC-TV)
