Bikinis and Wet T-Shirt Contests Held at Carolina Bay Senior Community

Theirs was the generation that ‘invented’ the scandalous fashion statement in the mid 1940s, so it seemed ‘fitting’ for them to celebrate the summer garment.

Last week, residents of Bradley Creek Health Center at Carolina Bay held a ‘bikini’ contest. Of sorts. Cardboard sorts. The fashionistas created beautiful ‘bikinis’ on cardboard placards and then ‘modeled’ them. (The one gentleman in attendance made a ‘Speedo and six-pack abs.’)

This ‘shocking’ bikini behavior at Bradley Creek Health Center, was preceded several weeks ago by a wet t-shirt contest. The residents’ take on the activity was hanging t-shirts on clotheslines and shooting water pistols at them, competing for the person who could get their target soaked the fastest.

“The residents have really enjoyed these activities,” said Meredith Mercer, Activities Director for Bradley Creek Health Center. “We had them listed on the calendar well ahead of time, so they had plenty of opportunity to talk and laugh about it in advance. We’ll definitely be doing these again!”
