'Black Lives Matter' Street Mural Painted On Charlotte Street

Local artists began painting the street mural Tuesday morning on South Tryon Street between 3rd and 4th Streets.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Artists took activism to the streets Tuesday, painting a city-commissioned "Black Lives Matter" mural in the heart of Uptown Charlotte.

The mural, painted in permanent traffic paint, mirrors a similar project unveiled last week in Washington, D.C., where artists painted enormous bright yellow letters on the street leading to the White House.

Local artists have uniquely designed each letter, said City of Charlotte spokesperson Brit Clampitt.
