Body Found In Lake In Area Searched For Missing Woman: Report
A boater on Lake Wylie discovered the body Sunday, however police have not yet confirmed the person's identity, according to reports.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police have launched a death investigation in south Charlotte after a boater on Lake Wylie discovered a body floating near Buster Boyd Bridge, according to reports.
The area of the lake is where authorities previously searched for a missing Charlotte woman who hasn't been seen or heard from by her family since she left the family home two weeks ago, however police have not yet confirmed the identity, WBTV reported.
Vatsla Watkins, 39, left her home March 18 in a silver 2004 four-door Mercedes-Benz C230, with a Carolina Panthers North Carolina license tag 8215CP, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Watkins' car was located at Pier 49 at Lake Wylie, prompting a police search of the lake March 22.

She is described as 5-foot, 4-inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black lightweight jacket and blue jeans.
CMPD asks that anyone with information about this incident call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
