Body Found Near North Charlotte Church
Charlotte police have launched a homicide investigation after a man was found shot to death behind a church.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A homicide investigation is underway after the body of a man was found in a wooded area near a University-area church in north Charlotte.
According a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department report, police received a tip in a 911 call for help received shortly before 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, which led officers to the 9100 block of Newell Baptist Church Road.
The 911-caller had found the body of the man who was killed by a gunshot in a wooded area near the church, CMPD said. Homicide detectives are conducting an investigation and canvassing the area to locate witnesses.
