Body Found Tuesday In Charlotte Floating In Small Area Of Water
Police discovered the body near Village Lake Drive in southeast Charlotte, and they said the investigation is active and ongoing.

CHARLOTTE, NC —The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit is conducting a death investigation after a body was discovered floating in a small area of water Tuesday afternoon, the department said.
According to police, the body was discovered at approximately 1:53 p.m. near the 1800 block of Village Lake Drive in southeast Charlotte. Officers had gone to the location responding to a check the welfare call. The Charlotte Fire Department removed the body from the pond and pronounced the person dead, police said.
As is standard for a sudden or unexpected death, the CMPD's Homicide Unit was called to conduct and investigation, and Crime Scene Search processed the scene and collected physical evidence. CMPD's Operations Command and Victim Services also assisted at the scene, according to the CMPD.

The police department provided no further details about the victim or cause of death, but said the investigation is active and ongoing.
