  1. "Tryon Medical Partners, in partnership with Javara, is conducting an investigational influenza vaccine trial in the Charlotte area. This clinical trial will potentially help to prevent seasonal influenza, which causes three to five million cases of severe illness and up to 650,000 deaths each year. Currently approved seasonal influenza vaccines often perform poorly when circulating influenza strains don't match those selected for that year's vaccine. A messenger RNA, or mRNA, vaccine has the potential to offer broader protection by responding to strain changes more quickly and improving protection in older adults," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
  2. "First Miracle Vine and Wine opened up not too long ago, and its owners create delicious wines to sell in the taproom. ... Randall and Stephanie Carter founded First Miracle Vine and Wine as a way to make excellent wine right here in our beautiful southern climate. They do everything by hand themselves from planting to pruning and harvesting. Their wines are made in small batches and, yes, they are bottled by hand. They want people to come visit the farm and enjoy this hidden gem in laid-back rustic setting," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)

Survivor Cindy Smith was diagnosed with breast cancer in the spring of 2019. ... Smith began treatment in May 2019 after returning from a missions trip.
