- "Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking for help identifying a car taken during a recent shooting on Snow Lane. Officers are looking for a dark-colored Mercedes Benz C250 with North Carolina license plate TJV-4843. Police say the car could be connected to Ahylea Willard’s shooting death on Snow Lane on Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to call 704-432-TIPS or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 704-334-1600," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
- "Nationwide, the Republican Party has organized to get more of its party involved in school board races. From the local to the national level, Republican politicians have pushed legislation to alter school boards' power. Changes vary from public health decisions to the curriculum. In a series on the upcoming races for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Board of Education, one race represents the varying meaning of what it means to be a Republican school board candidate," WCNC reports. - "Brixham Park is set to undergo major renovations as part of Northwood Office's Ballantyne Reimagined project. The new and improved green space will be complete with a permanent structure for covered seating, turf lawns, dedicated food truck areas, free Wi-Fi and more ... the park served as the primary event space in Ballantyne for many years before the overhaul of the golf course created Ballantyne's Backyard," WCNC reports. - "The City of Charlotte's Arts and Culture Advisory Board on Tuesday awarded a total of $251,000 in grants to 13 local arts and culture projects. The awards are the latest grants from Opportunity Fund, which supports local arts and culture projects, programs and initiatives that may fall outside existing grant cycles or structures in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area. Projects must also meet the goals and guidelines of the larger Infusion Fund, which is a partnership of the city, Foundation For The Carolinas and private donors to support arts and culture through June 2024," City of Charlotte Government reports. - "A Charlotte mother says homeschooling her son, who has ADHD and dyslexia, helped him dramatically improve his grades. When Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools were fully remote due to COVID in 2020, Vallencia Frazier brought her children to the YMCA for physical education. It was a great way for them to exercise and start their days, particularly her son. ... Frazier is a science teacher and says she started helping educate her children at home when schools went fully remote in May of 2020," Spectrum News reports. (Spectrum News)
