Captain D’s Armed Robbery Suspect Ordered Food, Grabbed Cash

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police are asking for the community’s help identifying and locating a man they say ordered a meal at an area Captain D’s restaurant before pulling out a handgun and grabbing cash from the cash register.

According to a police report, the suspect entered the fast food restaurant located at 2838 Freedom Drive shortly before 9 p.m. Feb. 20 and ordered food.

“The witness stated that as they completed the transaction, the suspect brandished a black and silver firearm and pointed it at the business employees,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said. “The suspect then reached over the counter and grabbed money from the cash register before running out of the business.”

Police described the suspect as a thin black man about 5-foot, 9-inches tall. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, a dark bandanna, gray sweatpants and flip flops.

CMPD said that anyone in the community with information about this incident is asked to call 911, or contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
