Carolina Panthers Appeal $4.8 Million Property Tax Bill
The Carolina Panthers saw their property tax bill jump to $4.8 million due to the county's revaluation. Now, they're appealing.
CHARLOTTE, NC — The Carolina Panthers were expected to appeal an unpaid $4.8 million property tax bill Friday — a bill the NFL team is contesting after a recent property tax revaluation increased it by 200 percent, according to reports.
Bank of America stadium was recently assessed by the county to be worth $572.3 million, a price tag that was dropped to $472 million after an informal review, according to WSOC. Prior to the recent reassessment, the stadium had been valued in 2011 at $134.9 million.
The $4.8 million tax bill was due Jan. 6, but had not been paid as of Jan. 31, WSOC reported. Mecklenburg County is assessing a penalty of 2 percent interest, the station said.
