Carowinds Worker's Hand Severed While Inspecting Park Ride

The contractor partially severed his hand while inspecting the Windseeker ride at Carowinds Wednesday, according to reports.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A contractor inspecting a ride at Carowinds had his hand partially severed while 200 feet off the ground at the amusement park Wednesday morning, according to reports.

The worker was injured while above ground, but did not fall, WSOC first reported. “The 911 call was initially for a high angle rescue but that ended up not being necessary,” tweeted station reporter Greg Suskin.

According to the Charlotte Observer, the third-party contractor was inspecting the 300-foot Windseeker ride at the amusement park when the accident occurred around 9 a.m. Other workers on site were able to get the injured man to the ground before first responders arrived, the newspaper said.
