Here are the top five stories in Charlotte today:

  1. "For the first time since April, WWE NXT will venture outside Florida according to a Tuesday PWInsider report. ... Vengeance Day, the brand's next special event following Saturday's Deadline, will be held at Charlotte, North Carolina's Spectrum Center on February 4. The venue is a large one that can seat over 19,000 fans," Figure Four Online reports. (Figure Four Online)
  2. "D-K-M-S is a non-profit working to save lives here in Charlotte, and it is currently working with a young patient in North Carolina, looking for a donor to potentially save his life. ... DKMS is dedicated to the fight against blood cancers and blood disorders by creating awareness, recruiting bone marrow donors to provide a second chance at life, raising funds to match donor registration costs and supporting the improvement of blood cancer therapies by our own research. 3. "The Carolina Panthers are on the outside looking in with a long shot to make the NFL playoffs, but even if Carolina doesn't make it to the Super Bowl, one of its own has a chance to bring home one of the league's most prestigious awards. Defensive tackle Derrick Brown was named the team's nominee for the 2022 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. The award recognizes players who show not only excellence on the field, but also have a positive influence beyond the game, leaving legacies in their communities," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
  4. "Earlier this year, a new apartment building called The Joinery opened in Charlotte’s Optimist Park neighborhood. There was something really unique about this luxury apartment building — there’s no parking. The idea is for people who live at The Joinery to rely more on walking, ride-sharing and the light rail to get where they need to go," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
  5. "Care, compassion and action are three words that epitomize the life and service of Elinor Caddell, UNC Charlotte professor emerita of nursing. Colleagues, alumni, friends and admirers gathered in the College of Health and Human Services Monday, Dec. 5, to celebrate Caddell’s 100th birthday, surprising her with the presentation of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, one of North Carolina’s highest honors," Inside UNC Charlotte reports.
