  1. "If one of your new year's resolutions is to start a side gig for extra money, you're in luck. A recent study found Charlotte is among the top U.S. cities to start a side hustle. LLC.org analyzed key factors across 170 cities before ranking its top 30, with Charlotte coming in at No. 28 overall. ... The Queen City made the list due to its "flexibility for side hustlers, affordability and accessibility" to start a side gig," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
  2. "You won't have to wait until the summer to try some of the Charlotte area's best cuisine, as the Queen's Feast Charlotte Restaurant Week is back for its Winter 2023 edition. There will be 87 restaurants featured from Friday, Jan. 20 through Sunday, Jan. 29. Each restaurant will offer three-course, prix fixe dinner deals ranging from $30 to $45 per person. All of the restaurants are located across the Charlotte metro area in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Iredell, Gaston, Union, Catawba and Stanly counties in North Carolina," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)

"A family of seven is currently without a home after a house fire in northeast Charlotte on Wednesday. ... the fire happened in the 200 block of Plymouth Avenue, near the intersection of Dalton Avenue and North Tryon Street, after a lightning strike energized grounding surfaces at the home. Firefighters were able to control the fire in 10 minutes. No injuries were reported, but the home sustained $40,000 in damage," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
  4. It’s been several "days since scaffolding collapsed at a Dilworth construction site, resulting in the deaths of three construction workers and hurting two others. The workers were killed after falling 70 feet when scaffolding collapsed at the construction site, which is on East Morehead Street at Euclid Avenue. Since the accident, support has grown for the loved ones of those killed. Channel 9 has spoken to people who knew each man, who identified them as José Canaca, Gilberto Mónico Fernández and Jesús “Chuy” Olivares. Learn more about the men —who were friends, brothers and fathers, among other roles," WSOC-TV reports. (WSOC-TV)
