Charlotte Police Nab Several Suspects In Theft Cases

Suspects arrested this week were charged with breaking into vehicles and an armed robbery of a CVS.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police have made arrests this week in three separate cases of theft committed throughout the Queen City region, including one armed robbery and multiple larcenies from vehicles.

On Monday, around 1 p.m., Hendricks Automotive, located at 6030 East Independence Boulevard, reported that someone had broken into several vehicles and stolen property. By the time officers arrived at the dealership, the suspect had already fled the scene. While officers were investigating, however, he walked back onto the property, according to CMPD. Lamar Woodard, 50, was taken into custody and has been charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering into a motor vehicle and two counts of misdemeanor larceny from a motor vehicle.

Woodard was also identified as a suspect and charged in another similar case that occurred in the 5400 block of Monroe Road on March 13, CMPD said.

On Tuesday, March 20, CMPD officers responded to CVS located at 5700 Albemarle Road after a report of an armed robbery shortly before 7 p.m. Officers were told the male suspect entered the store and pulled out a weapon, then fled the scene in a vehicle after stealing property.

Armed with descriptions of the suspect, vehicle and direction of travel, CMPD detectives located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect — identified by CMPD as 30-year-old Brandon James — jumped out of the vehicle and ran. James was apprehended after a brief foot chase.
