Charlotte’s Overnight ‘Saturation Patrol’ Nets 131 Charges

Charlotte police issued 131 charges from DWI to speeding Thursday night in a "Saturation Patrol" on Wilkinson Boulevard.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s “Saturation Patrol” aimed at traffic violations along Wilkinson Boulevard and Interstate 277 Thursday night netted 131 charges, from driving while impaired to speeding.

The operation, which was conducted from 11 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. along the central Charlotte corridor, included 16 CMPD officers and a mobile breath testing bus.

According to CMPD, charges made during the patrol’s 69 traffic stops include:

  • Driving While Impaired - 8
  • No Operator License - 7
  • Driving While License Revoked - 8
  • Open Container - 2
  • Other - 54
  • Speeding - 52
  • Total Charges - 131

Additionally, three warrants were served, CMPD said.
