Charlotte School Superintendent Suspended With Pay
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent Clayton Wilcox was suspended with pay Monday.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Following a five-hour closed door meeting Friday, the school board has suspended Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent Clayton Wilcox with pay, according to reports Monday.
“CMS can confirm that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education has suspended Superintendent Clayton Wilcox,” spokesperson Tracy Russ said, The Charlotte Observer reported. “The suspension goes into effect today and Dr. Wilcox will continue to receive his salary while suspended.” The school board said it could not provide further detail because it was a personnel matter.
Wilcox has been CMS superintendent since 2016. Wilcox’s post will be filled by CMS ombudsman Earnest Winston, who will be acting superintendent, the newspaper said.
