Charlotte Scores ACC Deal To Hold Championship Games Through 2030
The Dr. Pepper ACC Football Championship Game will be held in the Queen City through 2030, it was announced Thursday.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Queen City football fans, rejoice — the Atlantic Coast Conference’s annual championship game will stay put in Charlotte through 2030, according to a new deal announced Thursday.
Charlotte is already scheduled to hold the ACC Championship game through 2020 — a partnership the new agreement will extend by another decade.
One reason, according to the ACC, is the response from fans.

“The Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game has sold out at Bank of America Stadium four of the previous seven games,” ACC said in a statement. The impressive turnout includes the 2017 Championship game where 74,372 attended to see No. 1 Clemson best No. 7 Miami, 38-3.
“The seven previous ACC Football Championship Games in Charlotte have averaged more than 70,000 fans per game,” and have set attendance records for the stadium, ACC said. “Over the last eight years, the ACC ranks second among all conferences in attendance at its football championship games,” it added.

The news was well received by Charlotte sports officials.
“The Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game is one of the most exciting events in college football each year, and we are honored that Charlotte will host the game that has become the gateway to the College Football Playoff through 2030,” said Will Webb, Executive Director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation.
The ACC Championship games will be held at Bank of America Stadium the first Saturday in December.
