Charlotte SWAT Team Arrests Armed Robbery Suspect After Standoff
A suspected armed robber was arrested Monday after a brief standoff with CMPD's SWAT team on Concordia Avenue.
CHARLOTTE, NC -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s SWAT arrested a suspected armed robbery suspect Monday following a brief standoff on Concordia Avenue, according to law enforcement officials.
CMPD initially responded to an armed robbery call around 8:30 a.m. May 22 in the 1800 block of Prospect Drive in Charlotte. The victim told police the suspect, who police were able to identify as Lavarchio Allen, broke into their home and took items before pulling out a gun and threatening them.
Officers went to the Allen’s house in the 500 block of Concordia Ave., but were unable to make contact with him, CMPD said. SWAT team members and negotiators were called in and Allen, 34, was eventually arrested.
