- "Festivities began Monday ahead of the Jumpman Invitational college basketball event at Spectrum Center in Uptown Charlotte. The 2022 Jumpman Invitational presented by Novant Health is the inaugural showcase event of Jordan Brand, featuring four of college basketball's most successful programs ahead of the Christmas holiday. The men's and women's teams for Florida, Michigan, North Carolina and Oklahoma will compete in the Queen City as part of the inaugural event," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
- "Comedian, actor and former “Saturday Night Live” cast member will bring his Ego Death World Tour to Charlotte in 2023. The Grammy and Emmy Award winner announced he’ll perform at Ovens Auditorium on Wednesday, Feb. 22. It’s one of three new dates in February, with the other shows happening in Norfolk, Va., and Knoxville, Tenn. They follow more than 80 shows across North America in 2022, a press release stated. Tickets go on sale to the public starting Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
- "Chalk up another loss for the Carolina Panthers, this time versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, despite falling to a 5-9 record on the season their playoff hopes are still very much alive. The Panthers fell to the Steelers on Sunday 24-16, however Tampa Bay lost to the Bengals, leaving the door open in the worst division in the NFL. For Carolina, they need to win out to make the playoffs. Their next three games are against Detroit, at Tampa Bay and at New Orleans," WCCB Charlotte reports. (WCCB Charlotte)
- "As we travel to gather with family and friends for the holidays, you may want to take a moment and make sure you aren't bringing COVID-19 or the flu along with you. Health experts have been sounding the alarm about the "tripledemic" for some time, with flu, COVID-19 and RSV cases causing a spike in hospitalizations across the country and in the Carolinas. But why is COVID-19 more of a concern than the flu?" WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
- "The average price of a gallon of regular gas in Charlotte fell 10.2 cents over the previous week, sitting at $2.95 as of Monday. ... Gas prices in Charlotte are 36 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand at 12.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, GasBuddy analysts said. The cheapest station in the city is $2.59 per gallon as of Dec. 18 while the most expensive is $4.69 a gallon, a difference of $2.10 per gallon," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
