CMPD Identifies Driver Killed In Single-Car Accident Sunday
CMPD has identified the driver killed in a Sunday crash on Mallard Creek Road that also left his passenger with serious injuries.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have identified the driver in a fatal single-car accident in north Charlotte Sunday evening as Brandon Les Bowen.
Bowen, 22, was killed around 6 p.m. July 30 when the 2004 Ford Mustang he was driving ran off the road and hit a tree in the 10900 block of Mallard Creek Road. Bowen was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics. His passenger, 20-year-old Kali Cheyenne Forsythe, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Witnesses told CMPD that Bowen was speeding and passing other vehicles in the center lane before he lost control and ran off the road. “Excessive speed is suspected as a contributing factor in this crash,” CMPD said in a statement, adding that investigators are also examining whether impairment was also a factor.
