CMPD Nabs 50 In Overnight Safety, DWI Checkpoint
A safety checkpoint outside CMPD's headquarters Charlotte Thursday night led to 50 charges, including four for DWI.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Police cracked down on traffic safety violations in central Charlotte Thursday night with a safety checkpoint that netted 50 violations ranging from speeding to driving while intoxicated.
Officers from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department manned the checkpoint outside CMPD’s headquarters at 610 East Trade Street from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m.
Here is a list of the types of charges CMPD issued during the Oct. 26 operation:
DWI -- 4
No license -- 3
Suspended license -- 4
Registration violations -- 8
Other traffic -- 15
Speeding -- 15
Felony drug -- 1
