CMPD Nabs 57 In Overnight Safety Checkpoint

A safety checkpoint in east Charlotte Thursday night led to 57 charges, from child seat violations to DWI.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Police cracked down on traffic safety violations in east Charlotte Thursday night with a safety checkpoint that netted 57 violations ranging from child seat violations to driving while intoxicated.

At least 21 officers from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Department manned the checkpoint at 11400 Albemarle Road in east Charlotte, from 11 p.m. June 15, through 3 a.m. June 16.

Two individuals were arrested on outstanding warrants, CMPD said.

Charges from the June 15 checkpoint included:

DWI -- 3
Child seat violation -- 1
Suspended license -- 10
No driver’s license -- 19
Registration/Inspection -- 17
Open container - 1
Drug Charges - 6
