Update: CMPD Calls Off Search For Missing North Charlotte Man

Sad news: Corey Julius Caldwell, who CMPD was searching for after he went missing Tuesday morning, was found dead Wednesday afternoon.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A search for a 32-year-old man who went missing in North Charlotte Tuesday morning has been called off after his body was found in a wooded area near his home, police said Wednesday afternoon.

Corey Julius Caldwell was initially reported missing around 8:30 a.m. July 4 by a family member who told police he has a cognitive issue and that there was concern for his safety. His last whereabouts were in the 1700 block of Sir Anthony Drive in the University City North area of Charlotte, CMPD said Wednesday morning as it asked for the public's help in locating him.

Hours later, however, his body was located. "Detectives are conducting a death investigation, but early information gathered on scene indicates this is a suicide," CMPD said.
