CMPD Searching For Suspect Wanted On Drug, Firearm Charges

Charlotte police are searching for a man they say is behind a recently found stash of marijuana, $185,000 in cash, and a handgun.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Charlotte police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man they say is behind a recently found stash of marijuana, $185,000 in cash, and a handgun.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police discovered more than 190 grams of marijuana, along with stacks of cash and a .40 caliber Glock handgun last month while executing a search warrant in the 16000 block of Rudence Court, in a area south of Charlotte and close to the South Carolina border.

Police have identified Shawn Walton, who was not in the home when the search warrant was executed, as the suspect wanted in this case. He is described as a black male, about 6-foot tall and weighing about 200 pounds.

According to CMPD, he is wanted for felony possession of marijuana, possession with the intent to sell and distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of sale/distributing narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
