CHARLOTTE, NC -- Police are stepping up patrols in South Charlotte after an attempted attack of a female jogger Thursday evening. The attack occurred around 6 p.m. March 30 at the McAlpine Creek & Four Mile Creek Greenways off Johnson Road.

The 27 year-old woman was running with her dog on a greenway when she said she was attacked from behind by a man with a knife. She was pulled to the ground in what police say was likely an attempted sexual assault. The suspect, however, fled the scene after being bitten by her dog.
