Cooking Fire Blamed In Fatal Apartment Fire In Charlotte
A person is dead following an overnight cooking fire in southwest Charlotte fire officials said Thursday morning.
CHARLOTTE, NC — An overnight fire in a southwest Charlotte apartment claimed has claimed a life, fire officials said early Thursday morning.
More than two dozen fire fighters responded to the apartment blaze in the 4500 block of Rose Ridge Place late Jan. 29, extinguishing the fire in about 18 minutes, according to Charlotte Fire Department.
Firefighters were able to remove a person from the apartment but that victim was pronounced dead at an area hospital, fire officials said. The victim’s name was not released by officials.

“[C]ause of fire was determined to be an accidental cooking fire,” CFD said.
