Coronavirus Prompts Reschedule Of Spring AutoFair At Speedway
The annual car show at the Charlotte Motor Speedway was originally scheduled for early April. Here's when it's been rescheduled.
CHARLOTTE, NC — The Pennzoil Spring AutoFair at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, one of the most popular springtime events for car enthusiasts in the Carolinas, has been rescheduled for early June, according to event organizers.
The semi-annual event, which was originally scheduled for the first week in April, will now take place June 12 through June 14.
The move comes as outbreaks of the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, continue to increase around the U.S. and in North Carolina. Sunday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention called on organizers of events that draw 50 or more people to postpone or cancel them for the next eight weeks.

“Large events and mass gatherings can contribute to the spread of COVID-19 in the United States via travelers who attend these events and introduce the virus to new communities,” CDC said in the new guidelines. “Events of any size should only be continued if they can be carried out with adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene, and social distancing. When feasible, organizers could modify events to be virtual.”
